Sunday, July 31 Best Buy had an awesome deal on a 4 megapixel camera. So now Allie is happy. posted by Duncan @ 2:09 PM 3 comments Saturday, July 30 I just woke up. Wow, that was a long sleep. posted by Duncan @ 2:07 PM 0 comments Friday, July 29 I like how Johnny Cash's The Ballad of Ira Hayes and Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA complement each other so perfectly on the MP3 list. Unintentional on shuffle, but brought a smile to me anyway. posted by Duncan @ 8:22 AM 0 comments Tuesday, July 26 Canada calls for Security Council reform Wee! I used to be quite the United Nations geek, so this little piece brightened my day. And I agree, Security Council reform is overdue. Still, as always what the US thinks I imagine is the big deal. Of course, I don't know the current US line on Security Council reform, and am even too lazy to Google to find out. Now that I think about it, that is pretty darn lazy. Stand by. Hmm... U.S.: Reform U.N. before expanding Security Council That sounds like them. "Japan has earned its honorable place among the nations of the world by its own effort and its own character. That's why the United States unambiguously supports a permanent seat for Japan on the United Nations Security Council," says Condi Rice. I agree with that. Sounds reasonable. Hmm... but the United States isn't reasonable. There must be more to it. But really, now I have to put my foot down. Seriously, two members of my family are yelling at me to get my shoes on so we can go for dinner. Wes is actually wincing in hunger pangs. Nope, now he has fallen to the ground. The dog is sniffing him to see if the greater ecosystem that is our house has provided a meal for her. Nope. Wes wants her to go away. Alright. I have to go. I might have Security Council thoughts while I am out and about. posted by Duncan @ 6:42 PM 0 comments Monday, July 25 Fark link I will never click on: Woman bit by water moccasin that was hiding in toilet, providing years of nightmare fodder posted by Duncan @ 8:52 PM 0 comments Sunday, July 24 A couple of thoughts after leaving the movie theatre: 1. The running into glass/mirror gag is awesome. I doubt I will ever cease to laugh at it. Even when I am expecting it, I laugh out loud. 2. Nachos at the movie theatre (at least Silver City at West Edmonton Mall) have switched from the cheese they pump out of a vat to little microwaved plastic packets they expect you to open and put on your nachos. I don't like this. It is far more messy (at least for the consumer) and requires a level of skill to do while you can't see. And I don't think there is anywhere near as much cheese. And nachos are all about the cheese. posted by Duncan @ 7:10 PM 0 comments I forgot to say happy birthday to Wesley via blog, mostly because I was in Toronto at the time. Today is the party to celebrate his 12th birthday, so I would guess it is as good a time as possible beyond the actual date to wish him a virtual happy birthday. For the record, no I didn't forget his birthday in real life, as Allie and I got him gifts long before we left for Toronto. But all the same, happy birthday. To that end, today we are going to Silver City to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with many children. According to Google Earth it is a 1.1km walk. But it is a bit cooler than I was hoping, but should be fun all the same. In other fun news, I found a new Bittorrent client, BitComet, which has surpassed both my expectations and the features of my two previous clients. More than three downloads at a time, easy to use interface, lots of data about the files you are downloading. It uses a bit of system resources however. posted by Duncan @ 12:21 PM 0 comments Wednesday, July 20 After reading about Beatrice's longing for a Vespa I want one. I am concerned this is too impulsive and too far away for a computer for my ordinary tastes, as well as of course reducing my debt to income ratio, but very interesting. I think I would like to get two of course, although it would be fun to go with Allie on a single. But the kids can't have their own, as they are not old enough. But to transport one family, we would require two. And it still would not be a tonne of help in getting groceries. Hmm... maybe it would be best to just dream for the moment. posted by Duncan @ 9:13 PM 0 comments Rest in peace Scotty. posted by Duncan @ 8:22 AM 0 comments Tuesday, July 19 So I am back from celebrating, Toronto and the like. And strangely, I don't have much time to blog. Hopefully there will be time tomorrow. posted by Duncan @ 8:42 PM 0 comments Tuesday, July 12 In case someone is wondering, I'm not blogging because I am on vacation and celebrating a year of marriage. Talk to you when I return to the real world and Edmonton. posted by Duncan @ 5:06 PM 0 comments Wednesday, July 6 Imagine a movie made by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson and starring awesome actor Jack Black. Imagine that movie also starring Adrien Brody and Naomi Watts. And a huge ape. I have goosebumps. Go see the trailer. posted by Duncan @ 8:26 AM 0 comments Sunday, July 3 I do not like being a burn victim. That sounds harsh, so for all those reading too much into that statement, yes, I am alright. And yes, I function fine. But also, please, as a service to me, be careful what you pick up off of the barbeque this summer. Especially while it is lit. Particularly things that are metal. Fortunately it is my left hand. posted by Duncan @ 12:39 AM 0 comments Saturday, July 2 First of all, happy belated birthday Canada! I would get you a gift, but I paid about $7,000 in income tax last year. Well, I agree I get value for my money, and that was a bit toungue in cheek, but still, no gift. Second, I have become enamoured with this little ditty. You will likely need iTunes to listen to it though. Our family shrunk for a bit too, as Wes and Raven and the dog head down to Calgary for a couple of weeks. So Allie, Zoe and I are on our own until July 20. But Allie and I are going to Toronto for a good portion, so it works out for the best. posted by Duncan @ 11:38 AM 0 comments © 2003-2010 Duncan Wojtaszek No reproduction whatsoever, in any form, without permission.
