Saturday, October 29 ![]() Quynn and I exchanged world domination games, me bestowing Civ IV and him passing on Diplomacy to me. Great gifts - but what an awesome card. Thanks Quynn! posted by Duncan @ 7:42 PM 0 comments Sunday, October 23 For those keeping track of such things, the latest incarnation of the best strategy video game is coming out next week, likely Tuesday or Wednesday. Civilization IV got a great review at IGN, so I am expecting great things. Like hot seat play with Allie. And nuclear weapons. I should really finish Pattern Recognition today or tomorrow. Also, I found this hilarious: ![]() It is the list of rewards you get for selling Entertainment coupon books for Wes' school. Take note of the reward you get for selling 2-4 books: ![]() An invisible swivel pen? What happens if I lose it and it's invisible? Does it come in an empty box and they say "Well, the pen is in there. It's just invisible."? Why would I want an invisible pen? But most importantly, why does it swivel if no one can see it? posted by Duncan @ 2:48 PM 3 comments For the curious, the bad news from the doctor was I have a large hiatus hernia and gastro-esophagal reflux disorder, which is a lot of complicated and big words for heartburn. Bad heartburn, and sadly it is apparently permanent heartburn, but not as bad as it could be. Still, more tests to go. Wee! posted by Duncan @ 1:10 PM 0 comments Thursday, October 20 Nothing creates more worry than a phone conversation like: "It's West End Medical Clinic. Mr. Wojtaszek (may or may not be the real name of the person this story is about), Dr. Smith (certainly not this person's real doctor's name) wants to see you right away about your test results." "Umm... I have an appointment tomorrow morning." "That should be good. Thanks!" Should be? As in maybe not? As in something could happen tonight? posted by Duncan @ 6:33 PM 0 comments So after a nearly 10 month hiatus from watching The West Wing Allie and I sat down for a mini-marathon tonight, and wow did I forget how much I love the show. I was actually giddy. Still am. posted by Duncan @ 12:24 AM 0 comments Tuesday, October 18 Moving the DVD collection to disc binders is a surprisingly exhausting process, and only two of likely four binders is complete. Shockingly exhausting though. posted by Duncan @ 7:12 PM 0 comments Sunday, October 16 It was a good win. I always like beating the Oilers. posted by Duncan @ 9:35 AM 0 comments Tuesday, October 11 Why doesn't Google Desktop have cached copies of my files... grr overwriting. posted by Duncan @ 5:23 PM 0 comments Saturday, October 8 Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you Happy birthday dear Will Happy birthday to you posted by Duncan @ 6:28 PM 0 comments Good times had last night - the Flames won, I ate wings, and I had my picture taken.

Friday, October 7 Happy birthday to me Happy birthday to me Happy birthday dear me Happy birthday to me! posted by Duncan @ 7:41 AM 0 comments Thursday, October 6 On Birthday Eve, I am sitting here contemplating the meaning of life. Or something. In one event, it was suggested that I become something I once thought was the epitome of what I would want. But it turns out, I don't think I want it. In fact, I may want it less than something I really don't want which is what I have right now. Apologies if that sounds confusing (which I am sure it is), but it is of a non-blog nature, even though the strangeness of what I feel is very much something I want to blog about. It will help - well not put things in context, since I'm not sharing enough for there to be a context - but this pseudo-ennui is very present. It is present enough to make my bus trip seem short because I am thinking. posted by Duncan @ 7:37 PM 0 comments Wednesday, October 5 It appears to be spreading... Ottawa's surplus cash headed your way And too bad we lost tonight. posted by Duncan @ 8:58 PM 0 comments Monday, October 3 Today is the final day of the Munich Oktoberfest, an event I've always wanted to take part in. What's not to like? Beer? Good. Servers? Good. October? Best month ever. Beer? Good. ![]() I'm going to have a beer to celebrate. posted by Duncan @ 9:12 PM 0 comments And I miss Allie. I spent the weekend away from her paying attention to the computer and before that, I was in Lethbridge. posted by Duncan @ 8:39 PM 0 comments I sure am tired. I don't have a good reason per se - work was relatively straight forward although there certainly was a decent amount of walking and what not involved. As I attend to dinner, I can't help but feel the weight of everything around me. Weight is the wrong term, which might denote a feeling of being overwhelmed, which is far from accurate. But there is certainly an element of exhaustion involved. I would suggest I could go to bed earlier, but I'm going to bed pretty early these days. All the same, pretty productive day. Which is good. posted by Duncan @ 4:27 PM 0 comments © 2003-2010 Duncan Wojtaszek No reproduction whatsoever, in any form, without permission.
