Well, I can't say it was dreadful, as a couple of hours with Wolverine and Mystique are never dreadful. But given the talent on-screen, and how good Bryan Singer set up the last installment of the X-Men franchise, I can say last night's film performed well below expectations. And given that I had read every review possible of the film going in, my expectations had been suitably lowered. Sigh. Let's hope Superman is better.

There was no emotional resonance in this one for me. Despite the mounting body count, there was little sense of sacrifice or loss from the characters or indeed any emotion from them at all, which was in stark contrast to the first 2. The effects were cool and the plot had promise, but the movie's characters by and large failed to engage me into caring whether they lived or died, which is a pretty damning comment about a superhero/fantasy film...

I wasn't too impressed either. I wanted a better end to the trilogy and am not sure what the body count was meant to effect. This movie kind of made me sad. The Xmen should have been heros, but they weren't, the end should have been more defined instead of so passive and the drama around why the characters made certain decisions could have been elaborated on to make me care.
I think they wasted a chance at making the third movie, imho.
