Wednesday, February 27 Keeping the government alive from day to day sounds like the job of a minister's chief of staff. Or a senior staffer in the PMO. A job for the leader of the official opposition? Apparently. As Stephane Dion said "We'll find a way to not defeat the government" - well awesome I guess. Nothing says leadership like that. I wonder if 10 conservatives don't show up, will Dion whip the 10 Liberals to vote for the budget? With 126 Conservatives in House, 94 Liberals and 83 from other parties, that would mean if no conservatives showed up 84 Liberals would vote in favour of the budget, ensuring its passage? Of course they will show up - they're proud of the budget and should be. Except for possibly axing Millennium. You could have kept that. Actually, who I'd really hate to be is a Liberal MP on doorsteps down the road explaining why folks should vote against the Conservatives in an election when (s)he had the opportunity to vote against them many times on budgets and other important issues and failed to do so...
Also gotta wonder how the Liberal negative ad campaign will go next time around. It will be kind of hard to explain how Stephen Harper and the Tories are so evil that Dion had to keep propping them up several times per year to 'save' Canadians the horrible ordeal of another pointless election (Liberal definition of 'pointless election' being an election that does not return a Liberal majority government to power).

Is there even an opposition party? And if so, why would anyone vote for them?
